Leon Stavrinakis is a lifelong resident of Charleston, South Carolina. Leon’s distinguished legal career and service as an elected official have established him as one of the most respected and widely recognizable people in the Charleston area. Leon is a 1988 graduate of the College of Charleston and earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina in 1992. He soon joined the local prosecutor’s office, where he earned a reputation as an honest, fair prosecutor and a tough, top notch trial lawyer. Leon founded The Stavrinakis Law Firm in 1996. Since then, he has effectively represented clients in State and Federal Courts for over two decades. In 1998, Leon was elected to Charleston County Council, serving as chairman from 2004 to 2006. In 2006 he was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives where he has served on the Judiciary, Ethics, and Ways and Means Committees. Leon has been voted "Best Local Legislator" numerous times in the Charleston City Paper's "Best Of Charleston" edition, most recently in 2016 and 2017. ​
